AMDA Institute of Health Science, Damak

When it came to healthcare education, AMDA Nepal led the way by founding the AMDA Health Manpower Development Center under AMDA Hospital in 1996. The center started offering Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) and Medical Lab Technology (Lab Assistant) Technical School Leveling Certificate (TSLC) programs with the support of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

The Community Medical Assistant (CMA) course was added to the curriculum in 1997, and the Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma Level Nursing (Staff Nurse) program was later offered in 2008. After changing its name to AMDA Institute of Health Science (AIHS) in 2012, the university became known as one of the Eastern Development Region's premier educational hubs.

The Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma Level in General Medicine Program (HA) was introduced by the institution in 2018. The TSLC programs were upgraded to the Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma Level in Medical Lab Technology (Lab Tech. ), Radiography, and Physiotherapy in 2022.

Exposure to a range of healthcare environments, such as AMDA Hospital, Zonal Hospital, District Hospital, Primary Health Care Centers, Health Posts, and other health service providers in Province-1, is beneficial for AIHS students. Opportunities for on-the-job training (OJT) in the Damak area support community health.

AIHS is proud to have its own academic facility, well-stocked library, and lab facilities. The infrastructure was built in accordance with national standards in 2005 with assistance from the Japanese Embassy.
